Use an SEO Checklist

Here are a few simple things you can do to improve the SEO performance of your website. First, the Solutionistas recommend using the RankMath plugin on your site. Among other things, RankMath will give you suggestions on how to improve the SEO on each of your webpages.

With RankMath in place, get to work on your image optimization, sizing them appropriately and adding your keywords into the alt tags of your images. Once that’s complete, be sure to include links in your content to other pages on your site as well as external websites, such as vendors or other partners. Incorporate your keywords into the title tags and meta descriptions of your webpages. Be sure you have an SSL certificate on your site to encrypt your data.

Once these steps are complete, submit your sitemap to Google Search Console to make sure Google knows your site is live. Verify your Google My Business account to make sure your contact information shows up when people search for you on Google. Feeling overwhelmed? The Solutionistas take care of all of these steps for our web design clients.

Make Navigating Your Website Easy

Make Navigating Your Website Easy Free Guide

A well-laid out homepage and calls to action help your visitors understand what your company does and how to get in touch with you. If well-designed, your site’s navigation helps them find more information about your business. If poorly designed, it can frustrate visitors and cause them to leave. Navigation is important to ensure an enhanced user experience and improve SEO.

The first step in building an effective site navigation is to prioritize your pages. What do you want to lead visitors to first? Plan out your site navigation in a sitemap. A sitemap can be a simple outline or an organizational tree showing the hierarchy of your website’s pages. Sketching out your sitemap helps you see your website from a bird’s eye view and ensures nothing important is left out.

Once your sitemap is nailed down, it’s time to think about the details. We recommend that your logo at the top of your website always links back to your homepage. That way, visitors can easily get back to your most important information. Otherwise, it’s up to you how to design your navigation. Would you like to use dropdowns, mega menus, hamburger menus that collapse and expand content, or a mix? A web designer can help you understand which options are best for you.

Website Design FAQs

Companies update their websites for all sorts of reasons. Some are functional, while others are aesthetic. Changes to product and services lines are often triggers for updating a website. Outdated branding is also a reason to update your web design. Other companies update their sites to increase engagement and search engine performance. If your website isn’t performing as you’d hoped or is looking outdated, it’s time to get in touch with a web design company like Origin Smart Marketing.
If you’re tech-savvy, you might be able to make some of the changes in our free guide on your own. But others require an experienced WordPress site designer to make changes to your website’s template, plugins, and code. These changes will give you the most bang for your buck and make your website more functional for you.
That depends on a lot of factors, from the type of web designer you work with to the type of website you have to the changes you want to make. We recommend reaching out to a few designers to get an idea of their rates, capabilities, and design styles. At Origin Smart Marketing, we’re happy to talk through your potential project with you.
We are primarily a WordPress web design company, but we have experience working in other platforms. We’ve found that WordPress offers the best selection of templates, plugins, and flexibility for our clients (and our designers!). If you are considering updating your site, your current website platform isn’t a barrier to working with us.
There are all sorts of ways to get your business online. While DIY options are a great way for brand-new businesses to get online, most companies benefit from a professionally designed website (you tend to get what you pay for). Working with a Minnesota web design company helps you make the most of your online presence, from your website’s user experience to SEO to the security of the data on your site. A professional web designer will ensure your site is functional, safe, and beautiful.
A responsive website contains code that allows the design to change depending on the size of a user’s screen. When your website is responsive, it works seamlessly across any device with an internet connection. When your website isn’t responsive, it’s difficult for users to access the information on your site. This increases the chances of a user abandoning your site for a competitor’s.
Probably. A website is your company’s digital storefront. It should contain all the information about your products, services, team, and company culture that will make people want to do business with you. It also should include several calls to action to make it easy to convert users into prospects. A Facebook page is like a carnival barker. Sure, you share some information, but it is really geared toward getting people’s attention and creating buzz about your company. Most businesses use Facebook to draw people to their websites, whether through organic posts or ad campaigns.
